Kenya: Handball Team Faces Mozambique and Djibout in U-20 Show

KENYA have been drawn in Pool 'B' in the International Handball Federation (IHF) Under-20 Championship slated for April.

Drawn in the same group with Kenya are Mozambque, Djibouti and Senegal. Pool 'A' comprise Nigeria, Madagascar and DR Congo. The event has been organised by Confederation of African Handball (CAHB).

The national junior side will open their programme on April 7 against host Djibouti before meeting Senegal the next day. They wind up their preliminary round matches against Mozambique.

In the men's pool 'A' there is Chad, Madagascar and Mozambique while Pool 'B' comprise Uganda, Nigeria, Djioubti, Senegal. Kenya men failed to qualify for the championships.

Kenya Handball Federation (KHF) fixtures secretary Charles Omondi, who will also travel to Djibouti as an instructor, said the U-20 team that qualified during the zonal qualifiers at Moi International Sports Centre (MISC), Kasarani is in place and will start preparations during school holidays. "This team is composed of all school going players who are all rearing to go. Once the April holidays begin, we will organise their trainings," said Omondi, adding that two national referees could also travel with the side.
