Kenya: OCS Injured in Mob Attack

MALABA OCS Sebastian Mulili was injured on Tuesday night when he attempted to rescue a suspected gangster from members of the public in Malaba town.

Benson Juma, 35, had used the OCS as a shield to escape from the mob after he was found with batteries, shock absorbers and creasing machine. Flying stones caught the police officer on the head and chest.

Teso police boss Elphas Korir said two of the deceased accomplices have been arrested with one of them still at large. The police boss said patrols will be intensified to rid Malaba of criminals who rob people at night with impunity.

He said the two suspects in their custody will be arraigned in court to face capital offence charges. The body was moved to Bungoma District hospital mortuary pending post mortem examination.
