Kenya: New Jkuat Council Inaugurated

JKUAT yesterday inaugurated its new council. The ceremony was presided over by the university chancellor, Prof Francis Gichaga. The nine-member council, which is led by Dr Ekuru Aukot, will take charge of the university affairs for four years.

Gichaga challenged the team to guide the university in its mission. "The role of the council is enormous as the entire university will be looking to you for direction.

Your activities and deliberations during your meetings should at all times be guided by the University's vision and mission," Gichaga said.

The chancellor urged the team to promote and sustain research at the university. He said research at the university should be of international standards.

He said the council should provide opportunities for students and staff to develop and apply their knowledge and skills. Vice Chancellor Prof Mabel Imbuga praised the outgoing council saying they made enormous contributions to the university in two years.
