Kenya: Residents Told to Uphold Peace

Bomet County Commissioner Pauline Dola has urged residents to maintain peace ahead of the elections.

Speaking at Bomet green stadium during the launch of a peace campaign ahead of elections, Ms Dola said co-existence among all ethnic communities would ensure chaos witnessed in the last general elections do not recur.

Ms Dola said the country was still in a healing process owing to the violence that rocked the country after the 2007 general election and can not afford a repeat of the chaos.

"The youth should shun violence and I assure you we shall remain together as we have been after the elections," she said. The commissioner was speaking at Bomet green stadium yesterday where pupils and students from public and schools in the area preached peace.
