Kenya: Kingi Strategist Joins Rival Camp

KILIFI ODM's governor candidate Amason Jeffa Kingi suffered a blow after his chief strategist and campaigner defected to opponent Gabriel Katana yesterday.

Dobson Chiro Mwahunga cited lack of transparency in Kingi's leadership and incompetence in handling minor party problems. The Kilifi ODM secretary general said Kingi cannot solve minor issues in the party.

"The primaries were a sham. I advised him to consider those who were robbed of their victory but he ignored me. I therefore resigned because I believe in democracy," Mwahunga said.

Addressing a press conference at Kikambala, Mwahunga said Katana has the interest of the people at heart and he believes in democracy.
