Nigeria: Subsidy Trial - Court Orders Seizure of Marketer's Assets

Lagos — A Lagos State High Court, sitting in Ikeja has granted an ex-parte order for an interim forfeiture of assets belonging to an oil marketer, Mr. Oluwaseun Ogunbambo, who is currently being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegation of mismanaging N4.5 billion fuel subsidy funds.

Our correspondent reports that the order by Justice Adeniyi Onigbanjo mostly affected the defendant's bank accounts in the United Kingdom and five Nigerian banks, as well as landed property at 2 Olamijuyin, Avenue Parkview Estate, Ikoyi Lagos.

According to the EFCC, the UK bank account bearing the name of his England-based company, Seatac Petroleum Ltd, has £1 million in its credit.
