Zimbabwe: Lachelle Travel Gears Up for UNWTO

TODAY travel agencies in general play a pivotal role in the development of national economies, especially for developing nations. Most developing nations are turning to tourism as a means of developing their economies.

The Government has identified tourism as one of the four pillars of the country's economic turnaround programme, showing the growing relevance of tourism in the world development matrix.

LaChelle Travel and Tours, the only private indigenous Zimbabwean company to exhibit at the just ended Fitur International Travel and Tourism Exposition, in Madrid, Spain, has made serious inroads locally and abroad, as it positions itself as a global tourism player.

In Spain, LaChelle positioned itself as a Zimbabwean travel and tour agency seriously organising international and local travel and tours for the United Nations World Tourism Organisation General Assembly slated for August 24-29.

The travel agency's stand at Fitur was a hive of activity with many tourist wholesalers inquiring about travel and tours in Zimbabwe.

It is a trite but true observation that by exhibiting in Madrid, the headquarters of the UNWTO, LaChelle was taking Zimbabwe's tourism attractions -- man-made or sired by natural phenomena -- to the heart of the world tourism family.

LaChelle Travel and Tours is connected through two of the most prominent and only reservation systems - Amadeus and Galileo.

The systems have given LaChelle access to over hundreds of international airlines and thousands of hotels across the world to enable it to provide the most direct routing and reduce transit times for our valid clients.

That the agency is already negotiating strategic partnerships with other agencies in Europe, the Far East, South Africa and United Arab Emirates shows the seriousness of the company in a business once the preserve of a few elite in Zimbabwe.

LaChelle has rolled out a comprehensive profile for the UNWTO family in particular and travellers in general.

At home, LaChelle is known for securing cheaper fares on different airlines, while its team of experts deliver tickets at clients' doorsteps at no extra within the Central Business District. LaChelle can also email confirmation, e-ticket and itinerary to the client.

On the international scene, LaChelle is famed in the travel and tourism industry for its "Meet and Greet" services at the Harare International Airport for VIPs upon request. It also arranges airport transfers throughout Zimbabwe should the client request.
