Nigeria: 'Some Pensioners Earn N3000 Monthly'

Pensioners in the country receive as low as N3000 monthly after serving the country for 35 years or above, President of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP) Comrade Ali Abatcha has said.

Abatcha said the paltry sum is despite the huge amount of money being budgeted and diverted in the name of pension in the country.

"As I am talking to you, there are some pensioners in Nigeria that are earning less than N3000 per month. What is N3000 to a Nigerian citizen especially those who are living in major cities where you cannot rent for N5000 per month," he said.
