The Foreign Ministry received on Wednesday 13/2/2013 the approval of the Vatican on appointing former Vice President Mahmoud Mekki as Egypt's ambassador to the Holy See.
Mekki will be replacing ambassador Lamia Mekhemer, whose term of office has expired.
Since September 2012, the post has been vacant after the end of the tour of duty of Mekhemer.
Egypt had previously named two officials for the post; the first was former Chairman of the State Information Service Ismail Khairat and the second was former Prosecutor General Counselor Abdel Maguid Mahmoud.
