In response to request submitted by the National Old Folks of Liberia (NOFOL) to assist to the elderly, the National Oil Company of Liberia has provided food items to more than 200 needy persons in the Barnersville Estates.
Making the donation on behalf of the company, NOCAL's Senior Officer of the Corporate Relations Division Faith David said the gesture was in response to request for food items for the upkeep of the elderly.
She pointed out that NOCAL is in better position to help the needy because it is part of the company's work plan to do so.
"It means a lot at NOCAL to come out and identify with the women, children and most especially the needy which is core to the company's corporate social responsibility", the senior officer said.
Madam David said the fact that the company has come out to identify with the old people is quite worthwhile.
She promised to convey, base on additional request, medical assistance to the old people whom she quoted as suffering from other acute sicknesses including hypertension and diabetes.
In response, NOFOL Executive Director commended the management of the NOCAL for the timely assistance and promised to evenly distribute the items to the old folks.
"I am speechless, I do not know what to say to the management of NOCAL; I wish you all God's blessing because our prayers have been answered.
The food items distributed include sugar, rice, soap (both laundry and bath), beans, oil, milk, can of sardines among others.
