A delegation from the proposed Jubbaland region arrived in Galkayo on Tuesday (February 12th) for meetings with Puntland officials to discuss ways to improve their efforts to establish an administrative region, Somalia's Garowe Online reported.
The delegation, comprised of elders and businessmen, met with Mudug Governor Mohamed Yusuf Jama, Galkayo Mayor Ahmed Ali Salaad and members of the Galkayo city council to discuss continued co-operation in the formation of the new region.
"They had very productive discussions with Galkayo intellectuals, businessmen, women and regional officials and they were pleased with the warm welcome and the support that people of Puntland are willing to contribute to Jubbaland," Jama said.
The delegation will soon travel to Garowe to meet with Puntland President Abdirahman Mohamed Farole and other officials.
A conference on the formation of administrative region for Jubbaland will begin February 23rd in Kismayo.
