Egypt: Qandil Discusses Egyptian Initiative for Development in Nile Basin Countries

Prime Minister Hisham Qandil discussed progress in implementing an Egyptian initiative for development in the Nile Basin countries.

The initiative features joint ventures in education, health, human development, water resources, agriculture and electricity.

The initiative was assessed during a meeting of the higher commission of the Nile water on Thursday 14/02/2013, attended by ministers of foreign affairs, water resources, planning and international cooperation, electricity and transport.

The gathering tackled preparations for a project of power connection between Egypt and Sudan which falls within efforts to achieve economic integration between the two countries.

A border road between Egypt and Sudan is expected to be opened within the few coming months.
