Gambia Press Union Students Visit Observer

Twenty students who are currently undergoing a two-year Professional Reporter Diploma Programme at the Gambia Press Union (GPU) on Wednesday visited the Observer Company, publisher of the Daily Observer newspaper, along Gacem Road in Kanifing.

The Professional Reporter Diploma Programme is organised by the GPU in collaboration with the Gambia Media Support (GAMES) based in Denmark and funded by Dinida. The visit was meant to boost the confidence of the students who want to take up journalism as a profession, as well as to get first hand information on how the newspaper is published.

Speaking shortly after a conducted tour of the Observer offices, Momodou Saidy, managing director of the Observer Company, took the opportunity to advise the students to take their education seriously as they are the future journalists of this country.

Binta Ceesay, a student, explained that they were brought to the Daily Observer in order to expose them to the field of journalism She said theylearnt a lot from all the departments they visited in the Company, especially the editorial department.

The visiting students thanked the Observer staff for their generosity and prayed that the company continues to serve the people of this country and beyond forever.
