The Gambian leader, His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr. Yahya Jammeh has declared Friday, 15th and Sunday, 17th February, 2013 as National Days of Prayer throughout the country in observance of The Gambia's 48th Independence Anniversary. This was contained in a press release from the Office of the President.
The release reads;
The President His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya AJJ Jammeh, wishes to declare Friday 15th and Sunday 17th February, 2013 as National Days of Prayers throughout the country in observance of The Gambia's 48th Independence Anniversary.
In this regard, the President of the Supreme Islamic Council and the head of the Gambia Christian Council are to request all Mosques and Churches in the country to offer prayers for continued peace, progress, security, harmony and stability in The Gambia and beyond. Furthermore, the President urges all religious leaders to devote a good number of hours in their various places of worship, during these two days to honour the National Day of Liberation.
His Excellency, The President of The Republic wishes all Gambians a joyous Independence Anniversary in advance.
