Most men in Kenya do not know how to use male condoms, Aids Healthcare Foundation-Kenya has said.
The problem has been complicated by lack of access to the gadgets by rural residents. The foundation said poor infrastructure was to blame as condoms are mostly concentrated in urban areas.
AHF-K prevention programme coordinator Mary Nyaguthii said the youth need proper protect, especially during the Valentine's Day. She said data had shown that the youth are having regular sex and have ignored abstinence.
The foundation has embarked on a condom awareness and safe sex practices campaign over the Valentine period when couples tend to be less cautious.
"Most people assume that if you are a man, you know how to use a male condom. But the reality is, and we are the people on the ground, most of them don't know how to use them," she said.
