Kenya: Six Teams Promoted in the Women?s Football League

Six teams have been promoted to the national women's Premier League. The promotion will see the number of teams taking part in the women's top tier rise from 12 last year to 18.

The move to increase the numbers was arrived at after consultations meeting between Football Kenya Federation (FKF) and the league's sponsors.

Teams that have been elevated include Furaha Ladies and Moving the Goal Post from Coast, Eastern's Sporting Queens as well as Western's Nyuki Starlets, Kakamega Muslim and Oserian Queens.

Others to take part in the 2013 league are champions Matuu, MOYAS Ladies, Old is Gold, Kisii United, Spedag, Mathare United, Thika Queens, Western Commando, Galactico Youth, Makolanders, Kamaliza

Eaglets, Sotik Super Stars. The league is expected to kick off next month, shortly after the general elections set for March 4. The league was initially set for a February 23 kick off. Matuu won the league last year after amassing 58 points, pipping MOYAS to second place.
