Ethiopia: UN Gives Best Practices' Awards to Farmers

The United Nations carries out an annual competition for the best development practices and results gained in UN-led development activities.

This year among the names of winners of the twelve best practices of the year award included two Ethiopian farmers. Mohamed Seid, and Seid Ibrahim, farmers from South Wollo locality in Amhara Regional State were selected as recipients of the award for their successful implementation of improved agricultural techniques and seeds.

The decision was made by the executive board of UNFPA/UNDP. Helen Clark, Chief Administrator of UNDP, handed over the awards to Aman Hassen, Deputy Head of Ethiopia's Permanent Mission to UN. A statement from the Permanent mission hailed the ward as recognition to Ethiopia's efforts to mitigate climate change adversities and fight drought.
