Angolan and U.S. Military Officials Discuss Bilateral Co-Operation

Luanda — Matters relating to the co-operation in the domain of training military effectives of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) in engineering dominated this Friday's meeting, in Luanda, between the commander of the Angolan Army, gen. Lucío do Amaral, and a delegation of the United States African Command (AFRICOM), led by the major-general Patrick Donahye.

In the end of the meeting, the US military official, who is ending on Friday a three-day official visit to Angola, stressed that the other objective of the meeting was to listen to concerns that exist in the Army, so that he can afterwards see how he can help.

He said the US Army has a great tradition in terms of building quarters and other infrastructures, assuring that his country will continue to pass its experience to Angolan military officials.

The US delegation is made up by six AFRICOM officers, whose base is in Italy.

The US delegation already held a work meeting with the Chief of Staff of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA), general Geraldo Sachipengo Nunda.
