Zimbabwe: Bigwigs Fight Over Company Seizures

OPEN political warfare has erupted among senior Zanu PF officials over dodgy indigenisation deals, sucking into its vortex President Robert Mugabe, Vice-President Joice Mujuru, ministers and other senior government officials.

This has triggered shockwaves within Zanu PF whose bigwigs, led by senior politburo member and maverick Jonathan Moyo, fear the degeneration of the row into a national outrage would undermine their election strategy. Moyo is currently writing Zanu PF's elections manifesto whose thrust is indigenisation.

Clashes erupted over differences in implementation strategy and surfacing reports of massive looting, with consultants on indigenisation deals being paid more than US$40 million after only five months of work. Details of extortion, bribery, cronyism and patronage are rapidly swirling.
