Mauritania: UN Envoys Visit Nouakchott

Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz on Thursday (February 14th) met with United Nations Sahel envoy Romano Prodi and West Africa Special Representative Said Djinnit.

Prodi announced the creation of a UN centre to help the Sahel region reach "the same level of development as the rest of Africa".

The two UN officials visited Mauritania as part of the UN Integrated Regional Strategy for the Sahel.
