Libyans celebrate the February 17 revolution.

Cyrenaica federalists cancelled mass demonstrations planned for Friday (February 15th) to mark the second anniversary of Libya's February 17th revolution, Libya Herald reported. The decision was made for "the safety of our communities, the preservation of national unity, our social harmony and to avoid the public getting involved in conflicts at the behest of various political entities and groups", the federalist bloc announced on Al-Ro'ya television.

The decision followed "a request by the General national Congress (GNC) and government", the Cyrenaica bloc added. In the past week, GNC President Mohamed Magarief, Prime Minister Ali Zidan and a GNC delegation made a visit to Benghazi to meet local officials.
