Uganda: Corruption - Kyamadidi to Fight On

Rwampara county residents have urged MP Vincent Mujuni Kyamadidi to continue fighting corruption, but also advised him to use the NRM caucus as the platform to highlight critical issues in the party.

The elders made the resolution on Friday, during a meeting called to resolve a conflict between Mbarara LCV Chairman Deus Tumusiime, Mbarara NRM Chairperson Jomo Mugabi and Kyamadidi, over the MP's recent outburst about poor roads and health facilities in the area. The MP, who got into a fight with Mugabi last month, had filed an assault case at Mbarara police station.

'I am being witch-hunted because I openly talk about corruption and failures in central and local government to save public resources for the benefit of the population' Mujuni told the meeting. He vowed to fight on, the threats regardless.

The three leaders agreed to work together. The meeting, held at Kinoni Saza hall in Rugando sub-county, elected Dr Benon Mugerwa, the NRM vice chairperson for Western Uganda, to chair a reconciliatory committee for Rwampara county. The trio hails from Rwampara.
