Nigeria: FG Promises Steady Power Supply

The Minister of Information, Mr Labaran Maku, at the weekend reiterated the Federal Government's determination to improve power supply across the country.

Maku, who gave the assurance in Rivers State during the tour of government projects in the state by the National Good Governance Team, said the Federal Government was also collaborating with states to implement the National Integrated Power Project (NIPP).

Maku said government had encouraged the private sector to build power projects aimed at increasing power generation in the country.

"We are also working with state governments under the NIPP programme, to build 10 additional power plants, and we have inspected the fourth one in Rivers state," he said.

"I want to assure Nigerians that from what we have on ground, there will be greater stability of power in the country as from the end of this year onwards," Maku said.
