Nigeria: Women's Group Plans Protest Against Some Northern Politicians

Northern women under the aegis of Women in the North Peace Initiative (WINPI) Sunday threatened mass protest against some northern politicians for allegedly blackmailing and threatening the life of the leader of their group, Hajiya Binta Kuraye.

Addressing a news conference in Kaduna Sunday, the spokes person of WINPI, Mrs Hanatu Bako claimed that some politicians were envious of the rising profile of Hajiya Kuraye and have not only perfected plans to rubbish her, but to assassinate her.

She alleged that a member of the House of Representatives from Adamawa State (names withheld) was one of the masterminds of the orchestration of evil against their leader, declaring that they will resist all attempts by some men who think they can intimidate women in politics.
