Gunmen on Saturday night kidnapped seven workers of a road construction company, SETRACO, in Jama'are, Bauchi State, police said.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Alhaji Mohammed Ladan, who confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), on Sunday, did not, however, disclose the nationalities of those kidnapped.

He said that the gunmen had also attempted to attack the Ganjuwa Police station and the Jama'are prison, but were repelled by his men.

The commissioner said that although no arrests had been made, investigations had begun.

NAN reports that SETRACO is handling the road project from Shuwarin in Jigawa, to Azare in Bauchi State. (NAN)
