Nigeria: Ebonylife TV Signs On Four Nollywood Divas for New Programme

Barely a week after wrapping up the filming of one its flagship programmes, SISTAZ!, EbonyLife TV has signed on four Nollywood queens for yet another reality programme with a title not yet disclosed.

Director, Reality Programming, Ebonylife TV, Pamela Ofoegbu, disclosed this in a statement issued in Tinapa, Calabar, Cross River State, where the Reality TV Series is currently being shot.

"We have signed up four electrifying Nollywood divas who will each play a role in the short film as well as be executive producers of this film as we see them in action behind the lens," Ofoegbu said.

He noted that "due to their tenacity, talent and achievement on and off the silver screen, our divas will give stellar attention to the silent issue of domestic abuse while giving voices to those unable to speak up, as they raise the spotlight on a very dark issue."

According to the statement, the reality programming currently in the works centres on the involvement of four of Nigeria's hottest Nollywood stars in the fight against domestic abuse.

"The show sees the Nollywood divas collaborate in the production of a brilliant and pulsating short film that spotlights the plight of women across Africa who have to bear the pains of domestic abuse, a crime far too familiar but rarely spoken about," it said.

Also speaking on the new programme, Executive Producer and CEO, EbonyLife TV, Mo Abudu, said "The Reality TV Series being filmed right now followss the highly successful recent wrap-up of one of our flagship programming, "SISTAZ!. Our current filming will bring our viewers to that compelling intersection between entertainment and reality as we bring some of Nigeria's most celebrated Nollywood screen goddesses to highlight and fight the scourge of domestic abuse, an issue prevalent in the African, and indeed, Nigerian daily life, through Reality TV."

The statement explained that "The Series is also set to highlight the life and times of the spectacular actresses and filmmakers in the thrilling three-week filming journey," adding "The series will end with a preview of the directors cut and followed up with a pan African launch later on in the year on EbonyLife TV. "
