Egypt Witnesses Activities of 'Together Against Violence' and 'Checkmate' Demonstrations

Thousands of supporters of the Gamaa Islameya (Islamic Group) and its political arm (the Building and Development Party) gathered in Al Nahda Square in front of Cairo University under the slogan (together against violence) calling for an end to the destruction of Egypt.

They renewed support to President Mohamed Morsy. During the demonstration, the Islamic Group called on President Morsy to meet the needs of the poor. The group called on the National Salvation Front not to work for destroying Egypt.

It launched an attack on the United States accusing it of politically blackmailing Egypt through the International Monetary Fund.

On the other hand, clashes broke out Friday between a number of protesters and central security troops in front of the main gate of Kubbeh Presidential Palace within the framework of demonstrations held under the slogan of "checkmate" and calling for bringing down the regime, appointing a national presidential council and dissolving the Muslim Brotherhood.
