Egypt: Finance Minister - a New Initiative Launched to Activate Tax Cancellation Committees

Minister of Finance Dr. El-Morsi Hegazi said that the ministry launched a new initiative to activate tax cancellation committees, along with expansion of electronic payments for taxes, pensions or customs.

The Minister stressed that the number of banks providing services of electronic payment has been increased to reach 30 banks with 1,850 branches covering all Egypt's governorates.

Minister Hegazi said on Saturday 16/02/2013 that more than 1,200 post offices have been activated within the framework of electronic payment system as of next March. He added that there is intention to bring the informal economy to the formal economy, which will increase the general income of tax.
