Nairobi — HRH princess Lalla Hasnaa, chairwoman of the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Protection of the Environment, arrived Saturday morning in Nairobi to attend as guest of honor the 27th session of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Governing Council, scheduled for February 18-22.
The princess's participation in the session of the UNEP Governing Council, as guest of honour, highlights the ambitious, proactive policy initiated by Morocco in favour of sustainable development for over a decade, as well as the role of the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Protection of the Environment in raising awareness of environmental issues.
The 27th session of the UNEP Governing Council/Global Ministerial Environment Forum, on "Rio +20: results for implementation" will adopt a series of major decisions likely to strengthen its activities and its commitment to safeguarding the environment, following the adoption of the Rio +20 conference's final document "the future we want" and the UN General Assembly resolution 67/213.
