Nairobi, 18 — The 27th session of the administrative board of the UN environment program opened on Monday in Nairobi in the presence of HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa, chairwoman of the Mohammed VI Foundation for environment protection, as guest of honor.
Before heading to the conference room for the opening official ceremony of the session held from Feb.18-22 under the theme Rio +20 : from results to implementation", the princess was welcomed by the director-general of the UNO office in Nairobi, Sahle Zwede, UNEP executive director, Achim Steiner, and other top UN executives.
The princess then planted a tree, in the presence of Kenya's president, Mwai Kibak, in keeping with the tradition that all important visitors to the UN office plant a tree as a token of respect to the UN ecological values.
