Prime Minister Hisham Qandil is following up the repercussions of the three-storey apartment building collapse in Muharram Bey District in western Alexandria on Sunday 17/2/2013.
In statements, Cabinet Spokesman Alaa el-Hadidi said that the premier phoned Alexandria Governor Mohammed Abbas Atta to inquire about the cause of the building collapse and the progress of the rescue operations.
He also asked the governor to report him immediately on the outcome of investigations into the collapse and to swiftly implement the demolition and renovation orders issued for any old buildings to prevent the occurrence of these accidents in the future, the spokesman added.
In statements, Health Ministry Undersecretary in Alexandria Dr. Mohamed el-Sharqawi said that the injured are identified as Mohamed Ahmed Hassan 27, Abu-Bakr Hassan Ali, 69, Fatma Ibrahim Ali, 57, Mohamed Abu-Bakr Ali, 24, and Shimaa Abu-Bakr Ali, 31.
