Egypt: Morsi Issues Presidential Decree to Appoint New Mufti

President Mohamed Morsi issued on Monday 18/2/2013 a Presidential Decree appointing Dr. Shawqi Ibrahim Abdel Kerim as Egypt's new mufti.
As per the decree, the new mufti will assume office on March 4 in succession of Ali Gomaa.
Abdel Kerim was picked by the Senior Scholars Authority under Al-Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed el-Tayyeb last week. He was serving as the head of the Comparative Fiqh at Al-Azhar University's Tanta branch.
