The Salala Rubber Corporation, (SRC) located in Gibi District in upper Margibi County has donated several sewing machines to the Women and Children Development Association of Liberia, (WOCDAL) in the district.
Making the donation recently to the women group in camp one, the Financial Manager and Acting General Manager of Salala Rubber Corporation, Mr. Nicolas Bergerot said the SRC Management was very much delighted to empowering women in the communities that are within the immediate operating areas of his company.
Mr. Bergerot said his company was not just interested in extracting the resources from the area, but was also very interested in giving back to the community dwellers, especially the empowerment women.
He indicated that as part of his company's "Corporate- Social Responsibility", it was a way of identifying with the community and people of Margibi County.
He also revealed that his company would always identify with all community groupings in helping to do those things that could help in transforming their lives.
In receiving the sewing machines on behalf of women in the area, the Executive Director of the Women and Children Development Association of Liberia, (WOCDAL), Madam Malinda Joss said the donation of the machines to her women was very timely for them.
Madam Joss said the sewing machines would go a long way in helping to further empower her women group for the betterment of their livelihood in the community.
Madam Joss said her organization was training women in the areas with basic skills in tailoring and cosmetology and to the not too distant future include other programs that will uplift them.
She then thanked the Management of the Salala Rubber Corporation for their humanitarian gesture and timely donation of sewing machines to her women group and assured them that they are going to be used to further enhance the training capacity of women in the area.
