Kenya: Kimemia Advice to Civil Service

CABINET secretary Francis Kimemia has warned civil servants against actively taking part in politics. In a letter addressed to Attorney General Githu Muigai, PSs and PCs, Kimemia said it is an offence for civil servants to engage in politics.

"All public officer are required to be neutral and to be non-partisan and therefore should not engage in any political activities whether directly or indirectly or even support candidate(s) seeking political office," Kimemia said in the letter dated February 11.

Cord's presidential candidate Raila Odinga' secretariat on Saturday said it has information that Kimemia, NSIS Director General Michael Gichangi, and Chief of Defence Forces Julius Karangi are taking part in Jubilee strategy meetings. Kimemia and Uhuru however dismissed the claim.
