EU Special Envoy and Ambassador to Somalia, Michele Cervone d'Urso, strongly condemns the recent assassination in Garowe of Sheikh Abdiqadir Nur Farah and the car bomb attack in Mogadishu's Lido beach restaurant on 16 February.

He extends his sincere condolences to the families of the bereaved and injured and to the wider Somali public hurt by these tragic losses. "These latest deplorable terrorist acts will only serve to strengthen the resolve of the Somali people and authorities", reiterated Ambassador Cervone d'Urso.

The EU remains very close to all peace loving Somalis and will continue to stand by Somalia in its endeavour to strive for a better future.
