A man identified as Pius Oladele said to be the chairman of sand dredgers in Amuwo-Odofin area of Lagos, was on Monday killed by what is suspected to be an explosive device planted under the Amuwo-Festac link bridge.

Although it could not be ascertained who planted the explosive which went off at about 11.35am killing Oladele and injuring a policeman who came to visit the deceased under the bridge (popularly called Miracle Beach) residents ran in different direction claiming it was the dreaded Boko Haram sect planted it.

An eye witness, Adeola Peters, also a sand miner and close associate of the deceased, told Newsmen that he (deceased) resumed for work yesterday morning under the bridge, and having parked his white Pathfinder jeep with registration LSR 957 AZ, made for his usual position.

It was gathered that thirty minutes later, a call was said to have come into his cell phone which necessitated his driving out only to return accompanied by a policeman in his car.

Upon settling down at his usual position, the deceased was said to have called one of his loyalists simply identified as Dogo, to buy 'Alomo Bitters', a local gin which he shared with his police friend.

Moments after the policeman made to leave, a loud explosion was heard which shattered Oladele, killing him at the spot, injuring the policeman said to have moved a few steps away before the device connected with dry cell batteries and wires detonated.
