Zimbabwe: ZBC Sends Final Demand to Debtors

Zimbabwe Brocasting Corporation boss Mr Happison Muchechetere has written letters of final demand to the permanent secretaries of various ministries and heads of organisations that owe the broacaster more than US$6 million in unpaid debts.

In a copy of one letter of final demand, Mr Muchechete implored the ministries to pay their dues.

"The debt relates to services offered by the corporation as supported by the attached customer statement."

Some of the ministries include Home Affairs which owes US$1 141 311.62, the Organ on National Healing, Reconciliation and Intergration (US$969 046.75) and the Office of the President and Cabinet owing the broadcaster US$420 939.04.

The letters of final demand were copied to Media, Information and Pubilicity Minister Webster Shamu and permanent secretary Mr George Charamba whose ministry also owed the broadcaster $234 371.21.

The corporation has been plagued by financial difficulties.
