Angola: Pilot Census Slated for May 2013

Luanda — The pilot census will start on 16 May this year in the provinces of Cunene, Kuando Kubango, Kwanza Norte, Huambo, Luanda, Uige and Namibe.

This was announced Monday by the assistant coordinator of the Technical Bureau of the Census, Paulo Fonseca.

Speaking on the sidelines of an opening ceremony of the training action on "Census Organisation, running until 21 February, the official said the event is intended to equip the technicians of Central Bureau of the Census and its provincial services.

He also said that the event aims to train and inform the people in general on the importance of the pilot and general census scheduled for 2014.

Paulo Fonseca said the work of mapping and field is completed in those provinces, lacking only a few Office-related works which are already underway, such as the scanning of documents and other materials.
