Kenya: Makueni Gets 25 Wings to Fly

Twenty five candidates from Makueni who sat the last year's KCPE have been selected for the Equity Bank's Wings to Fly Progamme. The students who will join form one next week scored between 300 and 370 marks.

Their school fees, shopping, pocket money and transport will be taken care off by the programme for the four years they will be in secondary school.

Speaking to the students and their guardians at Wote Equity Bank branch on Friday, bank manager John Mwangi said the board picked 13 girls and 12 boys from the 2,000 applications from Makueni county.

He said the districts selection board comprising of at least 12 members shortlisted 87 applicants for the interviews and noted that the final list of beneficiaries was selected purely on merit.
