Eritrea: Call Made to Preserve History of Armed Struggle Trenches

Asmara — The inhabitants of Halhal sub-zone have called for stepped up efforts as regards bequeathing the history of armed struggle trenches in the locality vis-à-vis the need for preserving them.

They further asserted that such trenches are living monuments and relics of the Eritrean armed struggle for independence, and called for enhancement of integrated venture towards their preservation.

Mr. Girmatsion Abraha, Administrator of Halhal sub-zone, expressed the readiness of the Administration and the inhabitants to collaborate in the renovation of damaged spots of the historical trenches in the locality.

Among the freedom fighters who had taken cover in the trenches, Col. Saleh Omar and Col. Jabera Humed voiced reminiscences regarding the heroic feats of courage witnessed there and liberation of Afabet town.
