Somalia: United States Congressman Visits Mogadishu

Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamed and US Congressman Keith Ellison discussed how to further strengthen ties between their two countries during the congressman's visit to Mogadishu on Tuesday (February 19th), Somalia's Hiiraan Online reported.

Mohamud thanked Ellison for welcoming him last month to Minnesota, which has the largest Somali population in the United States.

Ellison pledged to visit Mogadishu when he was campaigning for Congress in his district in Minneapolis, according Somalia's Horseed Media.

He is the first US official to visit Somalia since the United States officially recognised the Somali government in January.
