The IFP has welcomed the decision by the Mpumalanga Premier to reshuffle his cabinet, as some of the provincial departments need urgent turn around strategies in order to become functional again.
IFP Spokesperson on Human Settlements, Mr Petros Sithole , MP said, "The former MEC of the department of human settlements, Siphosezwe Masango, failed to deliver housing and to spend the allocated housing budget accordingly. It is imperative for the newly elected MEC Andries Gamede, to come up with an urgent turnaround strategy for dealing with the irregularities in the department". Sithole also expressed the need for the MEC to "hit the ground running".
"The MEC must outline a strategy that involves working with municipalities to speed up the delivery of housing and rooting out corruption, especially in the issuing of tenders. Contractors need to be monitored in order to ensure that they deliver on what is expected of them, especially the ones who are currently on site and who need to meet the end of march deadline," said Sithole
