The world football governing body, FIFA, has announced that it has approved goal line technology for both the 2014 World Cup and the 2013 Confederations Cup, both coming up in Brazil.
A statement on the FIFA website reads: "After a successful implementation of Goal-Line Technology (GLT) at the FIFA Club World Cup in Japan in December 2012, FIFA has decided to use GLT at the FIFA Confederations Cup Brazil 2013 and 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil.
"The aim is to use GLT in order to support the match officials and to install a system in all stadia, pending the successful installation, and pre-match referee tests."
Absence of goal line technology has led to several controversial calls by referees who have gotten it wrong on whether the ball crossed the goal line or not.
FIFA has now asked interested goal-line technology suppliers to apply to supply the systems needed.
Nigeria, as African Champions, will be playing at the Confederations Cup and have been drawn in the same group as world and European champions Spain.
