Angola: CNE Gathers Wednesday to Approve Report On Political Parties' Accounts

Luanda — The National Electoral Commission (CNE) will gather this Wednesday to analyse and approve the report on the accounts of political parties and coalitions that participated in the 2012 general elections.

The CNE has recently analysed the reports relating to the revenues and expenses of the political parties and coalitions with the use of public funds, which it will approve this Wednesday.

The Organic Law on the General Elections outlines that the political organisations that participate in an election must explain how they used the funds allocated by the state for their campaigns 45 days after the publication of the official results of the poll.

According to the law, the political organisations must submit to the CNE an annual report on the way they used the public funds during the electoral campaign and failure to do so is subject to sanctions.

Wednesday's ordinary meeting is to be chaired by the CNE chairman, André da Silva Neto.
