Nigeria: Siemens to Install Gas Turbines At BUA's Cement Factory

Lagos — Siemens Nigeria Ltd has secured the contract to install gas turbines at the BUA Group cement plant located at Okpella, Edo state.

Siemens and BUA in a joint statement issued in Lagos yesterday said the contract involves the supply of 3 units of Siemens Gas Turbines (SGT-500) manufactured by Siemens Industrial Turbo Machinery AB in Finspang, Sweden.

"The project is highly unique in the sense that Siemens will be installing the SGT-500 for the first time in Nigeria in its 50-year existence," the statement read in part.

"The SGT-500 turbines are unique for the African market because they offer flexibility in optimising investment returns, extremely low maintenance costs, high reliability and limited number of personnel required for their operation and maintenance," it concluded.

BUA Group acquired Edo Cement in 2010 and has since then been improving the state of the factory to a world class standard.
