Nigeria: Foremost Nationalist, Mudi Spikin is Dead

Kano — One of the few surviving independence nationalists, Alhaji Mudi Spikin is dead. He died last night in his private residence at Fagge, Kano State.

Spikin, a poet and founding father of the Northern Elements Progressive Union (NEPU) was incarcerated several times in his lifetime for his political activism.

The late literary icon has been buried at a public cemetery according to Islamic rites. He is survived by wives, children and grand children.
