Tunisia: Jebali's Decision a 'Positive Step', Akermi - Nidaa Tounes

Tunis — Nidaa Tounes described Hamadi Jebali 's decision to form a technocrat government as "a positive step on the right path," adding that "the formation of a government of independent personalities is the party's claim since its creation."

"Jebali's decision should be followed by a set of measures, in the first place the commitment of the National Constituent Assembly to complete the drafting of the Constitution by next April," the movement's spokesman Lazhar Akermi said.

He called to speed up the creation of the Independent High Authority for the Elections, claiming the "definitive" neutrality of the sovereign Ministries. Mr Akermi also asked to resume negotiations to revive the Tunisian General Labour Union's (UGTT) initiative, inviting Ennahdha islamist movement to "settle the issue with its Secretary-General and Prime Minister Hamadi Jebali."
