Tunisia: UTAP Supports PM's Initiative to 'Form Government of Technocrats' - Statement

Tunis — The Tunisian Union of Agriculture and Fisheries (UTAP), Monday, said in a press statement that it supported the decision taken by Prime Minister Hamadi Jebali to form a government of technocrats.

It is "a reasonable initiative whose implementation requires the combined efforts of all, away from overbidding and narrow partisan interests," added the statement.

"The political situation in the country needs to be eased during this period and heated conflicts and debates between political parties have to be avoided," it indicated

UTAP also noted "the deterioration of the economic indicators and uncertain outlooks which require establishing the foundations of economic revival and improving the performance of the government and the contribution of major organisations in the country."

It called "on the political class to overcome political and partisan conflicts and place the country's security and stability above any other consideration."
