Egypt: Housing Minister - Housing Ministry Acting to Upgrade Slums

The Housing Ministry is acting to quickly endorse a project, the first to upgrade a shanty town in Salam City, as part of an initiative by veteran actor Mohamed Sobhi to develop Egyptian slums in urban areas.

Housing Minister Tareq Wafiq met on Tuesday 19/2/2013 with Chairman of the board of trustees of the Together Foundation Mohamed Sobhi, which is overseeing development plans.

Wafiq said his Ministry will issue licenses and offer any technical support and expertise needed to upgrade the first slum area in Salam City.

Sobhi said his initiative is meant to restore the stately image of Egypt.
