Kenya: Trans Nzoia ADC Staff Demands Pay

Human rights activist Ken Wafula has asked the government to address woes facing Trans Nzoia Agricultural Development Corporation workers.

"The time for paying ADC workers "posho" is over, there is nowhere under new constitution that workers should be denied salaries" said Wafula, Safina Trans Nzoia senator candidate.

He was addressing supporters at Endebess and Zea ADC where he intensified his campaigns.Last year, labour minister John Munyes promised to send a labour commissioner to investigate the claims, a pledge he has not fulfilled.Wafula said the workers at the ADC farms live in condemned houses.

He said education standards in Kwanza are low because children of the workers work in ADC farms which lead to absenteeism. If elected, Wafula said he will help in reclaiming KARI and KEPHIs farms grabbed by individuals."I will also ensure Trans Nzoia County is allocated resources fairly by the treasury" he added.
